EAGLE MISSION AND HISTORY

The mission of The Eagle Academy for Young Men is to develop young men committed to the pursuit of academic excellence, strong character, and responsible leadership.

Opened in September 2012, the Eagle Academy for Young Men of Newark is the first all-male public school in the state of New Jersey. This school is a collaboration between the Newark Public Schools and the Eagle Academy Foundation. Eagle Academy Newark is a school environment that provides urban young men with structured learning experiences designed to meet their needs as adolescents growing up in urban settings.

EAGLE NEWARK BELIEVES
Our goal is for urban young men to achieve their promise as students, as family members, and as engaged citizens in their communities. Eagle Academy for Young Men of Newark will feature Parental Involvement, Academic Rigor, College Prep, Extended Day and Saturday Programs, Rituals, Summer Bridge and Mentoring.

​Eagle Academy for Young Men of Newark has diverse classes, trained and committed teachers, and a full list of in-school and out of school programs to help students achieve at their highest levels. Our goal is for every student to graduate from high school with the skills needed to succeed in college and in life.

  • is NOT a Charter School – Is a TRADITIONAL Public School in NPS School District
  • accepts students through the standard Middle School Application Process
  • performs no screening
  • gives priority to those who attend our Open House event
  • accepts ALL students

The Eagle Academy Foundation, founded in 2005,is a non-profit organization that develops and supports a network of all male, grades 6 through 12, college-preparatory schools in challenged, urban communities. The Foundation raises funds and resources to support programs at each of the schools. Eagle Academy Newark is modeled on the same successful format as three Eagle Academies in New York City, educating more than 1,200 young men each school year. For more information, please go to
