WHAT IS SUMMER SOAR?
Eagle Academy for Young Men of Newark’s SUMMER SOAR program is designed as a bold step to meet the academic needs of Eagle Newark’s rising 8th, 9th and 10th grade scholars.
For Eagle scholars who are already falling behind academically, summer learning loss can be a road block on their road toward academic success. The purpose of the Eagle Newark’s SUMMER SOAR is to begin to strategically address these academic deficits.

*Based on a scholar’s performance in the SUMMER SOAR, he may also be selected to attend *SATURDAY SOAR during the 2016 - 2017 school year. SATURDAY SOAR is a program designed to support Eagle Newark scholars during the school year with academic invention in a small group setting for tutoring and skill enhancement.

SUMMER SOAR ORIENTATION
All scholars will be REQUIRED to attend orientation on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 which will be designed to set the foundation for SUMMER SOAR by :
  1. Revisiting the Eagle Core Values

  3. Clearly stating the purpose and process of SUMMER SOAR
  4. Revisit the Eagle House Model (Summer House meeting will be a part of SUMMER SOAR)
  5. Developing individual goals for all participating scholars

The Eagle Model acculturates the embracing of the Eagle culture in our scholars, parents, teachers and staff, who are all essential elements to academic success. Our SUMMER SOAR initiative will include the execution of the following:
  • Eagle Town Hall
  • Eagle Core Values (C.L.E.A.R.)
  • Eagle Pledge

  • Eagle Dress Code
  • Eagle Code of Conduct
  • Eagle House Model
All participating scholars will be engaged in daily activities which will reinforce all these Eagle structures.

SUMMER SOAR EXPECTED OUTCOMES
